Global Transmission Network
The Global Transmission Network dataset is a global vector line layer representing
high-voltage electricity transmission lines worldwide. It maps the physical routes of
power grid infrastructure — the backbone of national and regional electricity systems —
enabling spatial analysis of energy infrastructure exposure and vulnerability. This layer
is valuable for infrastructure risk assessment, business interruption modelling, climate
and natural hazard exposure analysis, and identifying critical energy corridors at risk
from extreme weather, seismic events, or other hazards.

Interpreting the data
each line represents a transmission line segment. Attributes
may include voltage level and operational status (to be confirmed). Higher-voltage lines
carry electricity over longer distances; damage to major transmission corridors can
cause widespread power outages affecting large areas and populations.
Resolution and update frequency
vector lines; global coverage. Data completeness varies by region
(more detailed in Europe and North America). Update frequency to be confirmed.
Source
to be added (source to be confirmed — OpenStreetMap, GRIDFINDER,
or equivalent global transmission network dataset).
